Well, that’s what I’m working on. I’m on an adventure to make weight loss fun and learn how to love the weight loss journey. My goal is to enjoy a life free from food.
Hi, my name is Emily aka The Overweight Nutritionist. I’m a Clinical Nutritionist based in the sunny Hawke’s Bay in New Zealand and yes, I’m overweight. My passion is supporting women in their own weight loss journeys while I continue on mine.
I’m a fur Mum to Bella the fluffy Ragdoll, I love podcasts, being in nature, walking, cycling, photography, learning and connecting with like-minded people. You can learn more about me here or dive into how I came to be where I am today by reading Weight Loss Journey of The Overweight Nutritionist.

Remember, I know what it feels like to have been trying to lose weight your entire life. To struggle through the day fighting the urge to not overeat. The torture you feel when resisting the free morning tea birthday cake shout. The feelings of deprivation you get when you choose to eat the salad and drink water on a fun girls night out. Then it gets all too hard and you just give up, again. Overtime you end up gaining back the weight you worked so hard to lose and sometimes even more.
But what if weight loss didn’t have to be like this?
I’m choosing to believe it doesn’t and I’m currently learning how to love the weight loss journey. That’s what this blog is all about. Me sharing my journey on how I’m going to achieve that and taking you along for the ride.
Imagine standing on the scales in the morning and not beating yourself when the scale doesn’t change as you hoped it would.
Imagine not thinking about food all day but instead focusing on things that you love and feeling the joy of life rather than wondering when and what your next meal will be.
Imagine loving yourself and truly believing that you’re doing your best and on the right path.
Imagine what it would feel like to live the life you dream of in your future now? A life where you’re not on a diet and you love your body.
That’s what loving the weight loss journey looks like.
It’s about focusing on living your life now as you will live it when you reach your ideal body weight.
I share all of my weight loss and mindset tools here on the blog to help you achieve this too but sometimes just knowing the information isn’t enough. It’s ok to need a coach to guide you, offer support and hold you accountable until you can hold yourself accountable. That’s why I offer one-on-one coaching and group coaching specialising in weight loss.
One-on-one coaching is for those who want personal coaching that suits their individual needs to help them reach their health goals.
Group coaching is suited for those who want an introduction to the weight loss tools I teach and would benefit from the support of a group environment. It’s a place where you can connect and feel supported to share ideas, personal wins and help you to realise that you’re not the only one going through weight loss struggles.
My clients that have had the most success have done both and find one-on-one coaching and group coaching complement each other well.
